□ History
1932  Late chairman, Shintaro Amita, starts business to sell souvenir to foreign tourists.
1947  AMITA Damascene Co. Ltd. is established. Later changes name to AMITA Trading
Co.,Ltd.
1952  Obtains license as a retailer of Export goods from the Ministry of Finance. Opens
stores in Tokyo and Kyoto.
1966  Changes name to AMITA Jewelry Co., Ltd.
1967  Builds Kyoto Handicraft Center (KHC). Begins restaurant business. KHC becomes
Mecca for foreign tourists in Kyoto.
1969  Builds new metal factory at Takano. Moved from Saikyo.
1974  Opens AMITA Handicraft Center in Tokyo. Later moved.
1975  Opens New Miyako Hotel shop.
1978  Changes name to AMITA Corp. Opens Osaka marketing office and Narita Int'l
Airport Shop.
1979  Builds AMITA Bldg. in Toranomon, Tokyo. Opens the Japan Tax Free Center and
relocates Tokyo branch there. Later closed.
1981  Appointed to the Lions Club Official Supplier.
1982  Celebrates 50th anniversary. Founder late Shintaro Amita is appointed to the
chairman. Kunihiko Amita is appointed to the president.Relocates the new factory
at Kisshoin.
1987  Builds the new "Dining and Kyoto Souvenirs AMITA" building next to KHC,
establishing a business center for Japanese tourists to Kyoto. Later rebuilds.
Opens the Canada Gift House in Vancouver Canada, and later closed. Opens Holiday
in Tobu Narita shop.
1988  Establishes H.F.Wichman Co. at Hawaii. Later closed. Starts import business.
1989  Moves Tokyo branch to Higashi-azabu Minato-ku.
1991  Companys new logo adopted.
1992  Establishes Amita Malaysia Co., Later sold and moves to management of trademark.
1993  Establishes Zogan Studio Co.
1994  Opens Kansai Int'l Airport shop.Starts exclusive distribution of Swiss watches for
Japanese market.
1995  Builds AMITA Main Store.
1999  Remodels Narita Int'l Airport Shop.
2002  Relocates Osaka office.
2003  Tomokuni Amita is appointed to the president.
